Independent diagnostic for SMEs · Since 2015

The second opinion you need before investing in your business

A business and technology diagnostic, with no conflict of interest, from people who understand finance, operations and systems at once, so you decide with data, not with the opinion of the vendor who wants to sell you something.

Team presenting a strategic roadmap
The problem

Whoever advises you what to buy also wants to sell it to you

When you're about to invest in technology — an ERP, a CRM, refreshing infrastructure, hiring an IT provider — the only people advising you on what to buy are the same ones who are going to sell it to you. The outcome is almost always the same: generic software that doesn't fit your real operation, projects with no business case that stall halfway through, or licenses and infrastructure that quietly accumulate risk because no one is watching them independently.

The COMPASS method

One diagnostic, four weeks, one clear decision

01 — Listen

We understand your real business

An interview with you and your key team: the real business, not the one on the org chart.

02 — X-Ray

Diagnostic across 4 dimensions

Processes, finance, people and technology, always all four, never an IT audit disguised as consulting.

03 — Compass

Roadmap and business case

We prioritize what to do first and calculate the return, including the honest option of not investing yet.

04 — Decision

You leave with a decision, not a PDF

Face to face with the senior consultant who ran your case, no middlemen, no fine print.

Decide to move forward? Implementation is a separate, optional phase, never an implicit sale inside the diagnostic.

What's included

Concrete deliverables, not a generic PDF

Who it's for

This is for you if…

Radical honesty: sometimes the right answer isn't buying technology, but organizing processes or training your team. An IT provider will never tell you that because it doesn't serve them. We will, because we don't sell technology inside the diagnostic.
Trust

We've done this with companies across very different industries

Packages

One method, three levels of depth

All three packages share the same four-phase method. They differ in depth and number of interviews, not in the quality of the deliverable. Which one fits you is not decided by the size of your company: it is decided by your project's Operational Complexity Index.

Calculate my Index

Investment is quoted based on real scope, confirmed on your initial diagnostic call, with no commitment. Before that call you can find out which diagnostic we recommend right below, in two minutes.

Operational Complexity Index

Which of the three is yours?

Five questions about your operation, two minutes, no details required to see the result. At the end you know which depth of diagnostic your company needs —and why— and you can book your call right there.

Calculate your project’s Complexity Index

The Index measures five variables of your operation —the scope of the decision, your locations, the systems to review, how many people must align, and whether a corporate event is underway— and adds up to between 5 and 15 points. That score, not the size of your company, defines the depth of the diagnostic.

What we’ll ask you
  1. Scope of the decisionHow many processes or areas it touches
  2. Operating footprintHow many locations you operate
  3. Technology densityHow many systems must be reviewed
  4. Governance complexityHow many people must align
  5. Corporate eventWhether anything else is happening at once

The Index is the same criterion the consultant uses on the call: five variables, no fine print. Open the calculator on its own page →

Frequently asked questions

Clarity before you decide

Does the diagnostic include implementing what it recommends?

No. The diagnostic and roadmap are independent of any vendor. If you decide to implement with EGREGIE, it's a separate, explicit phase, never an implicit sale inside the diagnostic.

What happens if the diagnostic concludes I don't need technology?

That's the recommendation, documented with the same rigor as any other. Sometimes the right answer is organizing processes or training your team before spending on systems. We'll tell you that too, because we don't sell technology inside the diagnostic.

How long does a COMPASS diagnostic take?

Between 3 and 6 weeks, depending on the package and the complexity of your operation. See the packages section above.

What size company do I need to be?

We work mainly with Mexican SMEs of 10 to 100 employees, where the owner or general manager decides directly, no formal committee required. Headcount does not determine your package: that is defined by your project's Operational Complexity Index.

Do you work with companies in any industry?

Yes. We've already worked with companies in industries as different as mining, law firms, trading companies and media. The business-decision approach applies regardless of industry.

How is my package decided?

With the Operational Complexity Index: five variables —scope of the decision, locations, systems to review, people who must align, and corporate events underway— adding up to between 5 and 15 points. That score defines the depth of the diagnostic. You can calculate it yourself above, and a senior consultant confirms it with you on the call.

How much does a COMPASS diagnostic cost?

The investment depends on the real scope, which is defined with the Operational Complexity Index and confirmed on the initial diagnostic call, with no commitment. We prefer not to publish stand-alone figures: a number without the scope behind it helps nobody decide, and promising a price before knowing your operation would be exactly the kind of selling this diagnostic exists to avoid.

Ready for your independent second opinion?

No commitment: in a first call, we'll tell you if this is what your business needs.
